The
HoldFast System, effectively comprising a series of rubber ‘domino’
panels, simply drops in to place.
A 40 metre crossing can be installed in three hours without the
need for overhead electrical isolation. This is proving a major
commercial attraction in selecting HoldFast, while yielding further
environmental advantage.
Crossings can be delivered and off loaded direct from manufacturing
plant to the installation site on the day (or night) of installation.
This reduces fuel and road freight requirements.
HoldFast
prides itself on installation and the enormous cost savings. The
HoldFast Unitised system comprises only two items to install:
the panels and a few base plates. Its simplicity ensures a fast
installation.
The
system does not require bolts or screws - simply base plates with
grip tight nuts. These are not 'fixed' to the sleeper but just
sit on the sleeper. Applying a 'soap' lubricant prior to lowering
the panels will encompass the grip tight nuts within the matching
panel holes.
Designed to facilitate the already efficient method of
laying HoldFast panels, the HoldFast Lifting Pin aims to speed
up installation times, reduce network downtimes and reduce labour
costs.
Also requiring a suitable lifting mechanism (eg.
a Bobcat or a forklift) which can be attached to the Lifting Pin
shackle, the pins are inserted into the panels and as the weight
is applied the resultant force will pull the straps connecting
the pins to an acute angle, pulling the pins in towards each other.
This resultant force is then adequate to keep the pins in place
when lifting the panel.
The holes in the panels are not central but set back slightly
from the ‘non-rail’ edge. This encourages
the ‘rail edge’ of the panel to angle down, facilitating
installation of the units, as they naturally position themselves
for quick installation.
