Adjustable rail clips
The 'Soft Clip' (right) is one of a range of adjustable clips designed specifically to allow the rail to lift a predetermined amount to counter rail wave and also +/- 11mm of lateral rail adjustment. Hard Clips are also available, these are standard.

Designed and available from HoldFast, the clips are manufactured from ductile iron with the advantage of better castability than steel, giving a smooth clean profile and more strength for less expense. Galvanising and cadmium plating are available if required.

HoldFast 'Spring Clip'
Following research into adjustable spring clips, HoldFast's design will give crane tracks a longer life, taking into consideration a higher frequency of wheel passes, than other adjustable rail clips at present available on the market.

Although ideal for most rail tracks, the characteristics of this clip shows excellence when the rail is sitting over a resilient rail pad.

Designed for use with most rail sections, HoldFast's spring clip has the ability to hold rail down yet allow a calculated amount of rail lift created by rail wave or vertical lift of the rail, caused by bending moments due to loaded wheel travel. At the same time it still offers lateral adjustment of up to + or - 11mm and will withstand very high lateral loads.

The secret of the spring clip is in the material used to hold the rail down and the way it is retained in position without adhesives.

The spring utilises a new high density polymer which has a predetermined 'give' and exceptional recovery ability.

Retention of the 'spring' is by creating a recess in the nose of the clip which is designed to allow the circular length of polymer to deform when the clip is tightened down. The high quality polymer has good abrasion resistant characteristics, is not affected by salt and wet conditions nor most chemicals, and can be used in situations where adverse weather conditions prevail.
