Lifting Pins

Designed to facilitate the already efficient method of laying HoldFast panels, the HoldFast Lifting Pin aims to speed up installation times, reduce network downtimes and reduce labour costs.

Also requiring a suitable lifting mechanism (e.g. a Bobcat or a forklift) that can be attached to the Lifting Pin shackle, the pins are inserted into the panels and as the weight is applied the resultant force will pull the straps connecting the pins to an acute angle, pulling the pins in towards each other. This resultant force is then adequate to keep the pins in place when lifting the panel.

The holes in the panels are not central but set back slightly from the 'non-rail' edge. This encourages the 'rail edge' of the panel to angle down, facilitating installation of the units, as they naturally position themselves for quick installation.

End Restraints

HoldFast has now sold thousands of their unique and patented HoldFast End Restraint. A one-man installation, the end restraint closes and clamps shut tight any gapping on any modular crossing type or make.

When individual level crossing panels gap and a cyclist's bicycle wheels drop into one of those gaps, the impending accident can be, and has been, extremely serious. Dangerous gaps inevitably do occur unless a small 'work force' attend the same level crossings time and time again to shunt up panels to close the gaps.

Following successful trials with the support of Network Rail and a subcontractor, Network Rail has now specified the HoldFast End Restraint. Designed and manufactured by HoldFast, a Patent application has been applied for throughout Europe and the Americas. It is an ingenious design permitting simple installation by one man. It is guaranteed not to 'back off' once all the joints in the crossing have been closed up.

Cam Screws

Cam Screws have been used for many years, not just to hold down the Omni rubber panels but for also connecting timber sleeper to timber sleeper for use in the particular occasion that sleepers are used to create a simple agricultural or pedestrian crossing. The screws are typically 10 1/2" by 5/8" and have a star shaped head. The 1" (25mm) drive / chuck to suit a Banse Impact Wrence along with either a 1 3/4" (40mm) or 3 1/2" (90mm) are used to drive the screws in.
