HoldFast's
Safety Campaigns. Peter Coates-Smith,
Managing Director of HoldFast Level Crossings Limited,
is passionate about improving safety at level crossings.
The pictures below highlight problems, solutions and
campaigns to improve safety on level crossings that HoldFast
have been involved with.
April
2005: These pictures show a recent HoldFast
Heavy Duty Highway Crossing installation near Bicester.
HoldFast was chosen because it is a safety critical situation.
Such is the heavy and constant road traffic, the previous
crossing was breaking up and becoming a safety hazard after
five years. HoldFast's full depth rubber panels are designed
and manufactured to survive the force and wear of heavy
road traffic without peeling or gapping.
A green HoldFast Pedestrian Crossing was installed adjacent to
the highway crossing.
March
2005: Metronet Train Cleaning
Depot at Stonebridge Park, North London. HoldFast have
worked with Metronet to improve staff safety, efficiency,
and the working environment at one of London's leading
underground train cleaning depots. 'The HoldFast surface
has proved to be the perfect surface and has enabled a
series of productivity improvements. It has even lifted
staff morale,' claims David Brabham, Fleet Manager. Full
story to follow.
MARCH
2005 : HoldFast Lifting Pin;
Our long panels reduce crossing joints (the weakest point
of a crossing) and improve platform stability. Now installation
is made easier with the tested and certified HoldFast Lifting
Pin. Simply insert the rods in to the panel, lift and lower
the panel into place. The rod positions ensure the panels
tip down towards the rail for easy final positioning. It
is available in two types: one for standard crossing panels
and one for Track Access Panels which feature a slotted
hole.
MARCH
2005 : Tubelines, responsible for
the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines on the London
Underground has just completed successful trials
of the HoldFast Track Access Points (depicted below), with
the aim of installing many more in the near future. A growing
number of metro networks are also now following the "trend" by
investing in HoldFast TAPs to enable fast track repair
and maintenance and reduce line closure times.
FEBRUARY
2005 : Newcastle Metro visit,
showing two further concrete crossings to be replaced by
HoldFast crossings in March 2005, following the successful
installation of 12 HoldFast crossings last year. Also featured
is the Metro's tamper - easy removal and replacement of
HoldFast panels is another reason why Sid Lewis, Maintenance
Engineer - Permanent Way (depicted) believes HoldFast provide
the best crossing solution.
