HoldFast have just returned from Cairo after installing a 12.6 metre long rubber crossing spanning two roads - the first of any type of rubber crossing to be established throughout the whole of Egypt.
It took the HoldFast team three days to install the crossing, and they came across several technical difficulties along the way - including problems with differing sizes of rail sleepers, poor quality bases and the wrong tools being supplied - but still the installation was an unrivalled success.
The crossing was installed to withstand the weight of the very heavy traffic load in Cairo and allows for easy removal and reinstatement after engineering works. The previous tarmac crossing took a whole three days to remove and reinstate after work had been undertaken, whereas the rubber crossing takes just an hour either side.
The HoldFast Rubber Crossing, as with all HoldFast products, is made of 100% recycled rubber, making it both practical and environmentally friendly. The high bond strength of the rubber gives it an indefinite life span with optimum durability, and it is also weather resistant so won’t warp under the extreme heat of Cairo.
The simple installation process, low maintenance and long life span makes HoldFast Rubber Crossings extremely cost effective in comparison to tarmac alternatives, offering exceptional strength and durability for all highway solutions.
